Bella was born in Hong Kong and now lives in Sydney, which explains the accent nobody can quite place. Her grandfather spent his career giving the Shan Hai Jing (the classic of Mountain and Seas) his own annotation. The world of VERMILLION is built on that text, and the grandparents at the heart of this novel are, in part, a portrait of the two people who raised her.

These days she splits her time between gaming, working, and writing AZURE, book two of the Shan Hai series.
